Table of Contents
1. Selling advertisements on you car
An easy side hustle is selling advertisements on your car. This entails taking out ads on your car and driving around town. You can also sell advertisements online if you don’t want to drive with them constantly, but it’s important that these spots be visible from the front or back of a moving vehicle. For more information, check out my in-depth article on how to make money be selling advertisements on your car.
2. Invest in bitcoin
Tons of people have made money investing in bitcoin. To get started, you need to be willing and able (i.e., have the money) to invest in Bitcoin, which you can buy from exchanges like Coinbase. You could also start by linking your bank account to services like CoinBits, which will “round up” your purchases into bitcoin. I talk more about this in my article, “how to make money by investing in bitcoin.”
3. Learn to flip products for cash
Flipping items for cash means that you buy items from stores, then sell them for a higher price on the secondhand market. You can flip anything that is in demand and sells well – clothes or furniture are popular choices (especially if they’re new with tags). I talk more about this topic on the post “how to make money flipping products.”
4. Set up a Dropshipping Store
Dropshipping is when you set up a store and sell items without having to buy them first. The way it works is that you first identify what products people are searching for on the internet, and then find a supplier that sells it. Dropshipping is an inexpensive way to start your own online business without having any inventory of items sitting in storage or needing lots upfront investments – you just sell them when someone decides they want one!
5. Do affiliate marketing
If you have a website or a social media following, affiliate marketing is good for making money in 2021. Affiliate marketing is when you have a link to another site and you get paid if someone buys another company’s products through your affiliate links. On Instagram, for example, I can make money by posting photos of clothes or shoes that are linked with an “affiliate code” in the caption (usually this is just their website’s name followed up one hashtag). If somebody clicks on my post from IG and buys the product, I get a commission.
6. Print on demand
If you are creative, print on demand (not to be confused with 3D-printing) can be a fun opportunity to make money from home. Print on demand is when you have your designs made into physical products and sell them. You can make these items on demand by uploading the digital file to various websites. For more information, read my in-depth article on making money with print on demand.
Starting a YouTube channel is easy but building it can be a little more difficult. However, if you are consistent, YouTube can be a fun “make money from home” opportunity.
Mari from Mari’s World has been on YouTube for about nine years now and her videos have reached over 23 million views! She makes an average of $300 per day but with the help or sponsorships, she could potentially earn more than that (though it is hard).

If you have some knowledge that you can share with others, creating an online course is a great way to make money online in 2021. To get started, you’ll want to write an outline that includes all of the topics you plan on covering.
After your course has been created, it’s important not only promote and sell this content but also provide customer support for those who buy from or enroll in these courses! There are many tools available online (such as the Teachable or Udemy website) which will help streamline the process.
9. Publish and sell an ebook
A ton of people are making money by writing and selling ebooks. Whether this is a niche-specific guide or an informational book, there’s no denying the value that ebooks have in society today. If you’re interested to get started with writing your ebook content but aren’t sure where exactly how it should be formatted and structured for sale on Amazon Kindle (or other online distribution channels), I’ll have an article up on Dollars and Cents soon about what to do. If you want to learn how to make money publishing low content books, read my article on the topic.

There are lots of opinions about becoming a blogger. Starting a blog is easy. Being consistent enough to turn it into something that makes money is the hard part. However, if you’re patient and consistent, you can make a living from blogging with a single site or more. Start by writing your first blog post and publishing it to the web Pick an area of interest that you have expertise in or something intriguing for people who are looking online – such as travel blogs with tips about where they should go next! If you want an easy and inexpensive way to get started, start with Bluehost.
11. Create an app
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to know how to code to build an app. Last year I used free software to build a podcast app for a podcaster. I sold it to him for $25 (and that was cheap) and he was super excited. The app building software I used was located at a site called Glideapps but the AppSheet site is also a great option you can use. These are easy to use because all you need to do is log in with your email address.
12. Become a freelance writer
Writers are needed now more than ever. If you can organize your thoughts, an article, or a blog post then you can start freelance writing. To get started with freelance writing, focus on writing about topics you are passionate for. If that’s fitness, then search out websites and blogs in the sector to submit your work to. If you want to speed up your writing with artificial intelligence, you should check out Jarvis at Conversion.ai.
13. Do online surveys
I thought this was a scam the first time I heard about this. However, online survey sites are a legitimate way to make some extra cash. To get started, I recommend you check out Prolific.co as this one seems to be the most reputable survey site groups I’ve found. There are always surveys available and they pay a decent amount. In about two weeks of using them, I’ve made about $60. There are other survey sites but some of them don’t pay very well or only offer a gift card as payment.
14. Become a translator
If you speak a second language, consider becoming a translator. Translators are needed now more than ever. You can even find freelance gigs on sites like UpWork and Fiverr if you’re just starting out in the field! 15. Become an online tutor
My sister started doing this last year and has turned it into a solid source of income ever since. She teaches English to kids in China who are trying to learn English. 16. Deliver food
Delivering food is one of the most popular ways to make extra money in 2021. The reason it’s so popular is because food delivery apps are exploding and people need the food. For this to be successful, you’ll have a car or bike for deliveries. To get started, check out the food delivery apps Just Eat, Grub Hub, or Door Dash.
17. Start your taxi service
Speaking of delivering food, another idea to make money is by delivering packages. Three businesses that a lot of people drive for are Lyft, Uber and Sidecar. These are exploding in popularity because they offer a real-life alternative to public transportation for people who can’t afford it or don’t live near bus routes where the buses stop every hour on Saturday night.
18. Become a virtual assistant
Virtual assistants, or VAs, are exploding. People are looking for VAs to help them with all sorts of work, such as editing photos, writing blog posts and articles or running a website. If you have strong communication skills (especially in English), an excellent typing speed of 80 words per minute with minimal errors; basic knowledge about computers like how to use Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word/Excel etc., then this is for you.
19. Became a game streamer
If you like to play video games, you should consider becoming a streamer. Streamers are people who broadcast themselves playing video games live on the internet. There are many sites that will allow you to stream for free, or a monthly subscription fee if your channel grows big enough (like Twitch).
You can make money by being an affiliate partner with certain brands and gaming companies as well. Twitch is a great platform to get started. Here’s how.
20. Invest in stocks
This is one of my favorite ways to make money online in 2021. With easy-to-use apps like Robinhood, you can invest in stocks on your phone and make money without actively doing anything. To get started, all you have to do is sign up for a free account and buy some stocks. While it might not be as easy to make money compared to other ways, it’s still worth depositing your savings into an online stock brokerage so that you can reap the benefits of investing. And just for signing up on the app or website, you get a free stock!
21. Trade options
Speaking of the stock market, trading options is another way to make quick cash. You really have to know what you’re doing or else you could lose your money so make sure you study some lessons before getting started. YouTube has a ton of awesome videos to help you get started.
22. Sell stock video footage
Another of my favorite ways to make money is by selling my video footage. I love to shoot drone videos. It’s even more fun because people will pay me for it! If you love to take videos, be sure to check out the Blackbox website. It makes the process of submitting your videos to the various stock agencies an absolute breeze.
23. Sell photography services
If you are halfway decent with a camera, you can start making money by selling your photography services. Photographers are always in demand to shoot events like weddings, birthdays, and commercials. Advertising agencies usually love to hire photographers because it saves them a ton of time in editing the content themselves!
24. Sell domain names
This was something I first heard about in the early 2000s but it’s still a way that a good amount of people make money online in 2021. What it entails is buying domain names for cheap and then selling them to buyers for more money. If you’re interested in getting into the domain selling game, check out the following website options: Flippa.com and GoDaddy Auctions.
25. Become an ad rater
This is something that not many people know about. However, if you can get a position like this, you can easily earn a steady (albeit small) amount of money every single week. There’s not a ton of information online about these types of jobs but if you’re interested in working to rate ads on social media, check out the website Lionbridge.
26. Become a TikTok consultant
The funny thing about this is that TikTok wasn’t even a thing just a few years ago. Now, you can make money by becoming a consultant! To get started, you need to have a pretty good profile on the social media site yourself so that people can trust you with their money. Once you prove to them that you know what you’re doing to help them build their fan base, they’ll be more willing to hire you to help them get more views. And once you establish that client base, it’ll be much easier to increase your earnings with more business.
27. Trade in your electronics
I didn’t know this was possible until I was trying to get rid of an old iPhone 4s that I had. If you have old electronics lying around, there are businesses out there that will buy them from you and send you cash. Some of these website options include Gazelle and NextWorth.
28. Set up a dog walking business
Depending on where you live, dog walking can be a huge business opportunity. People are willing to pay others to walk their pets because it’s not always easy to find the time or money. You can do this part-time, on mornings and evenings when you’re home from work for example (or don’t have any other obligations) quite easily! You could advertise on social media or through your own blog.
29. Rent out a room in your house
Do you have extra space in your house? If so, think about renting it out via the Airbnb website. This is a great way to make some extra cash when you’re not using your space. To get started, sign up for Airbnb and create an account with personal details about yourself (like name) as well other information.
30. Sell on Etsy
If you’re crafty or like making things that others might think are interesting, consider selling them on Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace where you can sell your “handmade” things to people all over the world. 31. Become a mystery shopper
Have you ever thought of becoming a mystery shopper? Believe it or not, this is a real thing. Mystery shoppers are paid for the specific assignments they accept, which can include anything from checking out customer service lines at different stores like Target or Walmart or buying products and rating them.
32. Sell secondhand books
I’ve made about $50 over the past month just selling old books that I find at thrift shops and consignment stores. To get started, I’d recommend that you use the app, SellBackYourBook. All you have to do is scan the ISBN, see if it’s selling for more than what you can buy the book for, and then sell it. It’s really an easy way to make a few extra dollars.
If you are good with children and have solid references, babysitting can be a pretty good gig. You need to make sure that you have a reliable car, especially if you are going to be driving kids around.
34. Peer-to-peer lending
Peer-to-peer lending is kind of a new idea and it is when you loan a small amount of money to someone in need, usually through an online platform. You can make about $25 on average just by loaning out your spare cash and it’s easy as pie! Another way that you could do this is lending with LendingClub or Prosper but the minimum investment might be more than what most can afford.
35. Market research
Market research is when you are paid to talk about products and services on behalf of a company, in exchange for the opportunity to get free or discounted items. Some market research jobs pay really well. How much? You can make anywhere from $100-$400 per hour!
The online platform Taskrabbit is a place to find local people to take on any task you need. There are all sorts of tasks that you can sign up to do on Taskrabbit, from running errands to assembling furniture at someone’s home or workplace. Really, any service is game on this platform.
37. Wholesale real estate
Wholesaling real estate is when you find a property that needs to be sold by the owner, buy it, and then turn around and sell it to someone else. You are basically the middle man in the deal. This way of making money can be a bit out of your comfort zone but if you’re bold, you can make some really good money doing it.

If you like to exercise and know how to help and motivate others, then you might want to consider becoming a personal trainer. You will need some certification from an accredited organization before being able work with clients at a location like this.
40. Home organizer
Did you know that there are people that will pay you to come and organize their home? If you are good at finding ways to organize and recycle items (and have an entrepreneur mindset) then this might be a great match for your skills. There is also the added benefit of getting paid while cleaning which can feel really satisfying! And it’s a great service as well!
41. Give plasma
There is no skill involved in giving plasma. If you have the right veins, you can walk in and donate. For some this is a great way to get the extra cash they need as it averages about $30 for each time you go in to give plasma, which only takes an hour of your day! You will have less energy if giving blood on top of donating platelets or red cells but many people are comfortable with it.
42. Put up Christmas lights
Putting up Christmas lights during the holidays is big business. Not only can you get paid by putting up and taking Christmas lights for individuals, many businesses and local governments are willing to pay you to do it for them. In fact, I know someone that only works during the holidays doing this and makes enough to not have to work the rest of the year! These are the kinds of success stories I love 🙂
43. Participate in medical studies
Doctors and researchers need to know how effective their treatments are. That’s where you can come in. If you’re willing to submit to their treatments, you can get paid to participate in medical studies. The downside is that these clinical trials are usually only for a few weeks at the most and you’ll have no idea what they’re testing or how it will affect your health, but many people see this as an opportunity more than anything else because of all their potential benefits like getting reimbursed up-front.
44. Wash or detail cars
This is more popular than you might think. Many people don’t have the time or energy to wash their cars on the weekends and would rather pay someone to come to their place of employment and detail their car while they’re working. All you need is some car-cleaning equipment and you can get started right away.
45. Lead local tours
If you live in a place that gets a lot of tourists, you should think about doing tours for out-of-town guests. You could set up group tours where each tourist pays you $40 to go on a half-day tour of the city. If you have five people sign up, that’s an easy $200 for just half a day’s work. Look at Viator for examples of people doing this all over the world. You could link your profile to your own blog showing the services that you offer
46. Become a transcriber
Transcribers work with video or audio recordings, taking them word for word, and typing the content. It’s a great way to make money online because you’ll earn as much as there is work available. It could be an hour one day then five hours another time of month depending upon what people need transcribed at any given moment. You can either work for yourself or for one of the many online transcription businesses. Here’s an article I wrote on making money as a transcriber.
47. Sell your vegetables
Do you have a nice garden or fruit trees that produce so much fruit you don’t know what to do with? If you’re like my neighbor, you can sell it to local customers. People love organic fruits and vegetables, especially if they know that they are local and come from their neighbors.
48. Teach online music lessons
If you play an instrument or can sing, there are lots of opportunities for you to make money online in 2021. You can either use an online portal already set up for this or start your own lessons through your own blog.
49. Be a proofreader
If you’ve got good English skills, think about becoming a proofreader. A proofreader is someone who reads the content and checks for errors. You can find freelance proofreading jobs on sites like Upwork or Fiverr, but there are also lots of opportunities to get work through local businesses as well.
50. Start a podcast
Podcasting is a great way to make money. All you need is a computer and some recording equipment, which can be found in any office supply store or online for affordable prices. It’s never been easier than it will become this year. If your podcast becomes popular enough, you can even earn money through advertising.
51. Become a social media influencer
My parents don’t think this is a “real job” but trying saying that to the people earning thousands of dollars a month doing just this! The job of a social media influencer is to post on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. It works best if you already have a significant following on one (or more) of these platforms. With this idea you don’t even need to have your own blog.
52. Rent out garage space
Instead of renting out your spare room for someone to live, rent out your extra garage space for people to use to store their extra stuff. Stashbee is one of the players in the garage rental market.

While I’ve never sold on Amazon.com, I know that there are plenty of people that make good money doing that. The way to get started is to first find some small products that you could sell on Amazon, and then sign up to try it out. You’ll have to do some research first to figure out which products are the best to try and sell. If you’re interested in getting started with Amazon FBA, they’ve got a great starter guide.
56. Start a clothing line
In the past two days, I’ve purchased t-shirts from two different ads. Selling clothing is a great way to make money online in 2021 because there is a high demand for it. For example, if you’re an experienced seamstress and know how to sew clothing then starting your own company or store might be the right choice! It may not seem like much at first but as long things are done properly business will only grow from there on out. If you’d rather not sew the items yourself, you can have someone else do that part for you.
57. Get money back by shopping online
Did you know that there are sites that will pay you to shop online? One of the best ones that I know (and it’s what I use), is Rakuten Cash Back. In just about a month’s time, I’ve already earned about $35 by buying stuff that I was already going to purchase anyway!
58. Be a travel planner
It used to be that you had to have connections in order to be a travel planner. Now you can do it from the comfort of your living room. To be a travel planner, all you need is to be well-versed in travel destination, know the best places for tourists, and have a knack at organization.
59. Online jury duty
If you have some extra time on your hands and want to make an extra few dollars, consider becoming an online juror. Companies like eJury.com are now employing people to serve on juries from the comfort of their homes. 61. Start an at-home daycare
This way to make money isn’t the easiest, but if it’s something that you enjoy, you will always be in demand. Many kids come from households where both parents have jobs and it can be hard (and expensive) to find places that will watch their kids. If you can provide a good place for kids, you’ll never run out of clients.
If you love spending time in the kitchen (cooking, not eating ;), then selling your baked goods to events is a great way to make money. Some examples of events that are always looking for catering include weddings, conferences, and fundraisers. If you can find a steady client with enough demand for cakes or other baked goods, then this is an even better opportunity to make money on the side.
63. Open a bank account
This isn’t for everyone but if you’ve got the patience, you can make money online by opening bank accounts or credit cards. Some banks will pay you for opening an account and even more if you meet their monthly requirements. Credit cards work the same way except you usually have to spend a certain amount of money in a specified amount of time.
64. Become a model
Are you unafraid to show off in front of strangers? If so, you can become a model for a drawing class or as part of a modeling agency. 66. Become a tech consultant
Not all software developers go to a 9-5 job at some business. If you’re good, you can do your own freelance tech consulting on the side as one of the ways to make money online. The way to get started is by networking with local small businesses and potentially developing a partnership. One of the jobs you might focus on is testing site functionality for organizations’ online presence.
67. Guest post
If you know how to write, you can make money by guest posting on other people’s websites. Most website owners don’t have the time to write all their content themselves. That’s where you can come in and save the day. The bottom line is that you simply write articles for them on topics you’re assigned and get paid.
68. Start a Facebook group
If you are passionate about something, and you think other people might be as well, starting a Facebook group can lead to some lucrative financial opportunities. One guy I know started a Facebook book on how to restore basketball sneakers. After only a year or so, the group now has 30,000+ members and the owner has started making money by promoting products for which he is an affiliate.
69. Mechanical Turk
Mechanical Turk is a service from Amazon that lets you earn money online by completing simple tasks. These include things like transcribing audio, classifying images and translating text from one language to another. A social media manager is someone that manages the social media personal or business profiles of someone else. 72. Graphic designer
If you’re creative and know your way around Photoshop, Illustrator, and other graphic design software like InDesign or SketchUp then you can make a decent living running a business as an online designer. Freelance sites are the best place to look for gigs but there’s also many websites that will pay by project. Make sure that you have some samples to show potential clients. This is great for college students that have some training in graphic design and want to get started making some money.
73. Start a Shopify store
Everything seems to be going digital these days but there is still a market for physical goods. And Amazon isn’t the only way to sell stuff. Find something that you believe in, get a sample made, and start selling it to people who are in your niche. EnVoyage Bags is a company that does this well. They sell high-end men’s leather toiletry kits. They found a segment of the population that is interested in this and appeal to them.
If you’re good with words, becoming a copywriter is something that you definitely should check out. What’s more, there are now artificial intelligence tools out there that can even help you to write better and faster. One tool that I highly recommend is Jarvis by Conversion.ai. It helps with all sorts of copy, including helping you to write better Google AdSense ads, helping your client earn money even faster.
75. Become a video editor
As a video editor, you’ll do a little bit of everything. You’ll need to be in charge or production, editing and post-production as well video encoding for different platforms like YouTube. What’s really enjoy about this type job is that you can do it remotely from anywhere except if it’s an onsite project. That means that you have the freedom choose your own hours and work when you want.
76. Become an online notary
A notary is someone who can certify the authenticity of documents. You can do this online by taking pictures and videos as you authenticate a document or signing on your tablet with an electronic signature pad that is connected to WiFi, Bluetooth keyboard, & a stylus pen. A notary’s work typically involves approving signatures for legal transactions. You used to have a notary service done in person but now you can do it online. In fact, when I recently sold my house, I actually did it all online, including the notary! The National Notary Association has all the information you need to pursue this side hustle.
77. Data analyst
If you’re good with numbers, you’d be surprised at how many businesses are looking for someone to help them do data analytics to improve sales. As a freelance data analyst, you can be the the go-to to help these them reach their sales goals.
78. Rent your car
Do you have an extra car sitting around not being used? If so, check out companies like Turo, who will take the hassle out of renting your car for you. What’s great is that this all happens online and these companies make it super easy and convenient for you so that you don’t have to worry about too much.
79. Essay writer
You wouldn’t believe how many college and high school students are willing to pay people to write their school essays. If you have a knack for writing, this could make an excellent side gig. Just make sure that your content and products are accurate and error-free (and also free from plagiarism).
80. Restore sneakers
Earlier I mentioned a Facebook group with over 30,000 members who are all interested in restoring sneakers. If you’ve got some creative talent and skill with a paint brush and air brush, you can corner the market on shoe restoration in your local area. Most people who want their shoes restored aren’t willing to mail the shoes and would rather deal with the restorer in person. If you’re the only one around, you’ve got an easy way to make money online in 2021.
81. Rent out your stuff
Most people know about renting out their homes or their cars, but did you know that you can also rent out your stuff and get paid for it? Some of the things you can rent out to people include power tools, household items, sports equipment, camping gear, and other products. Some of these services will pick up your stuff from you for free while others might charge a small fee to cover the cost. Either way, if you’ve got stuff laying around that you’re not using, you might as well put it to good use and get paid for it.
82. Start an email newsletter
Lately, a lot of the writers that I follow online have started their own email newsletters. Some are free, some cost money, and some are a combination of the two. If you’ve got something to share with others, this might be a good way to do it. A friend of mine started a newsletter for translators looking for translation jobs. He’s using Substack and loves it so far.
83. Become an online nurse
If you have the proper medical training, there are companies looking for nurses to provide over-the-phone consulting. The best thing about this is that you can do it in when it fits into your schedule. A really popular company that does this is Fonemed. Check them out if interested.
84. Sell your lesson plans
If you’re a teacher that’s good at producing lesson plans (or if you’ve got a few in your stack), Teachers Pay Teachers is a website that connects teachers looking for lesson plans with those teachers that have lesson plans to sell. This is a more passive income stream than offering tutoring services.
I know a lot of people that make a significant income just through their Twitter profiles. They sell their services or their digital products to people interested in learning what they know. The great thing about this is that you don’t have to have a huge following in order to do it. You just need to have a core audience and the ability to solve a problem that your audience has.
